Could be. I’d love to see a Monix-based solution to these distributed problems, particularly the sharding problem. (And like I said, I think it’s plausible.)

I’m a tad frustrated that everyone seems to agree that it could be done, but so far I haven’t seen anybody actually try, with the result that Akka is still the only game in town for many of these larger-scale use cases.
