Pretty much from the beginning of this Dotty News column, I’ve been including caveats to the effect of, “This is all preliminary — we’ll see what actually makes it into Scala 3.”

Well, things are getting less preliminary. The SIP Committee has been talking, and while nothing is definite yet, and there’s still a lot of discussion to go, we’re starting to get a sense of the shape of the Scala 3 language.

So I commend this conversation over on the Contributors Forum. It includes a link to a summary spreadsheet tracking the state of play of the various features, and a readable summary of where things stand. I’m not going to try summarizing — the conversation isn’t long, and it’s worth a read…
